Youth Ministry

Our Purpose:
RCC student ministries exists to reach students with the truth of the Gospel and to shape students into young adults who are growing in their love and worship for Jesus Christ, so that they may live lives to the glory of God. We seek to provide contexts for them to experience, apply and proclaim the Gospel.
Our Plan:
Scripture is the foundation from which we will develop goals and programs that accomplish God’s purpose to purify for Himself (through salvation and sanctification) people of His very own, eager to do what is good! (Titus 2:11-14)
- To train and equip our students to be godly men and women in all that they do (I Tim. 4:7-8; I Cor.10:31).
- To train and equip students to do the work of the ministry (Eph. 4:11-12; II Tim. 2:2).
- To teach and to lead students in corporate worship (Heb. 10:24-25)
- To evangelize by training students using creative methods of sharing their faith (Matt. 28:18ff).
- To provide local, national and international outreach and service opportunities (missions trips, conferences, etc.) (Acts 1:8).
- To have all aspects of our programming work in harmony to accomplish our purpose (I Timothy 4:12).
Within this plan, it is a priority to develop a youth staff:
- That can teach and model a Christ-like lifestyle and be a resource of support to parents (Eph. 4:7-13).
- That will consistently and constantly evaluate their own lives and everything they do (II Cor. 13:5; Eph. 5:15-16).
- To preach and teach the Word of God clearly, concisely, and with power in a number of ways and formats (II Tim. 4:2).
- That seeks to build a discipleship relationship and pray for every student that goes through this ministry. (II Tim. 2:2).
The Product:
When our purpose is accomplished through our plan, it is our prayer that, through the Word of God and the work of God’s Spirit, the product will be students who are committed to Jesus Christ and obedient to the Word of God. These students will be characterized by:
- A Faithfulness to God - Live a consistent godly lifestyle, motivated by God's Word and Glory
- Availability to God’s Call – Obedient to the control and leading of God's Spirit each day.
- A Teachable Spirit – A humble heart ready to learn, obey, and be corrected through God's Word.
- An Evangelistic Mindset – Excited to seek opportunities to share their faith with others.
- A Servant’s Heart – Willing to use their spiritual gifts and abilities within the local church.
- A Biblical World View - Wisdom to apply biblical knowledge to everyday life choices.
Our Program:
All our ministries have purpose - primarily growth, equipping, evangelism, or ministry opportunities. We believe it is important to have balance in these areas so our students will be "fully equipped".
Sunday School
- Jr. High (6-8 grades) and Sr. High (9-12 grades) at 10:00am. This is primarily more in depth teaching through a New Testament book.
X-Treme Impact
- Small groups for Sr. High that meet for Bible Study, Prayer & fellowship in various homes at various times on Wednesday nights.
Jr. High Bible Study
- Grades 6-8 meet at church Wed. evenings at 6:30p.m. Bible Study is sometimes topical in nature and includes prayer, games, crowd breakers, and snacks!
Camps & Retreats
- This is a chance to get away and concentrate more on our relationship with the Lord. These take place during winter and summer for both Jr. & Sr. High.
Ministry Opportunities
- It is important to integrate our students into the life ofthe church through different avenues such as: drama, music, ushers, sound/computer technicians, nursery, worship, banquets, etc.
- Additional opportunities outside the church may include mission trips, serving in the community, senior centers, rescue mission, youth services, etc.
Outreach Activities
- These are events designed to present the gospel creatively but clearly to the unsaved students.
Fellowship Activities
- S.N.O.S.H. (Sr. High)
- Other activities are planned throughout the year for Jr. & Sr. High
Prayer
This is not a program but is foundational to all our ministries and students. We encourage this by:
- "Adopt-A-Student” a one year commitment to pray for a specific student
- "Prayer Calendars” praying for a student each day of the month
- “Corporate and Small Group” prayer times at most meetings
The Role of Parents:
To facilitate the training of the youth, parents are equipped to effectively disciple their teens, with the help of the church community. Rather than parents abdicating their role to the youth pastor, parents are encouraged to be involved in the youth ministry and to be the primary means of raising their teens to the glory of God.
A Statement about Education:
RCC does not endorse any one means of educating our children – including homeschooling, public school or Christian school. We believe, however, that the parent(s) are to take the primary responsibility in the
